The Innovation Lie?

A lot of folks talk of using the new year to break free and innovate.  Seems I hear that every January,  then comes December and nothing has changed.  Here are a few thoughts on executing instead of just thinking about innovation,  to become Innovation Truths: 

COURAGE ( aka Moxie, Guts, Confidence ).  Sure is easy to talk about change, evolution and  new ideas, but it’s the courage to AFDI ( Actually F—-ing Doing It ) is rare.   Like in Baseball,  a .300 hitter may strike out 70 times, but those 30 hits are sweet.  Take swings,  it’s the hits that make a difference.

VISION.  Seeing over the horizon.  What’s next...now.  Imagining where things can go.  Mobilizing your passion and imagination. Take off the blinders.  Most everyone has vision,  but ya gotta use it.

360 DEGREES.  Aka The Big Picture.  You may be a specialist but visualizing the whole environment is  a powerful tool.  You may have your lane to drive in,  but see the whole landscape 

POINT FORWARD.  Living in the now but pointed forward.  Every day grows closer to the future.  The past is the foundation,  but forward is where change happens. Train your brain to think ahead.

SPIRITUALITY.  A universal state of mind that allows you to explore on your higher levels.  Ascending beyond the mundane and BS.   It’s in everyone to tap into in your own personal way.  There’s a place music, art, science and ideas come from....

COOLNESS.  Cool is an important value in an uncool world.  Even-ness and focused serenity.  A voice of reason and strength. Help solve rather than feeding the mass insanity.

POSITIVITY.  Cleansing yourself from negative thinking.  Staying realistic of course,  but living in that glow of positivity.  Takes work but is rewarding and productive. Sometimes it’s tough but nothing good ever happens through negativity 

DATA.  There has never been a time when data and information are more omnipresent.  The universe at our fingertips.   Use it to balance raw creativity.

ENERGY.  Required to cut through the mediocrity.  Innovation is not an area for the energy challenged.  Focused energy gets it done

DRIVE.  Working missions not gigs are what separates the movers from the dwellers.  Passion-Character-Muscle.  A new er ending quest to deliver to the best of your ability

BREATHE.  Step back and think...unwind the madness...give yourself Dreamtime 

UNDERSTANDING.   Mass empathy. You don’t have to agree or like,  but you have to understand.  There’s a new mainstream that ain’t the old mainstream 

BELIEVE.  In your ideas. If you don’t, no one else will

PERSEVERANCE.  Man,  things take time! Don’t give up. Urgent patience is tricky but worth it.  Channel whining and frustration into actions but realize things are difficult to navigate and require urgent patience...and time.

These are all very general but IMHO can contribute to the mindset to AFDI

With the world as nuts as it is, we CAN contribute to a better one with new ideas as the fuel.
